The "Ramon Margalef" has been passed "with high qualifications" its first coasting tests

The new IEO vessel, built in Vigo, completed successfully its first nautical day The oceanographic vessel Ramon Margalef, the first of the two new regional vessels of the Spanish oceanographic institute (IEO), passed successfully its first coasting tests, as has been pointed by the IEO itself, that communicates that in its firsts nautical days the vessel " reached the 13 knots showing a low noise and vibration levels, one of its outstanding characteristic". The vessel, built in Vigo's Shipyard Armon and launched last February, made a few days ago in the "Vigo's Ria" it first coasting test to evaluate the different propulsion and navigation systems, moreover the transverse propellers and all the peripherals systems: controls, alarms, fuel and refrigeration pumps or anchor. The tests were inspected by Bureau Veritas as for the ship-owner team, BPMS. According to the IEO, "the tests up to expectations and the ship performed well in the different evolutions which he underwent".
The oceanographic vessel has been launched on last February at Armon Shipyard. Even its construction began in MCies shipyard, the construction of the oceanographic vessel was delayed due this shipyard bankrupt.
The "Ramon Margalef" has on board one of the most advanced laboratories in the world, including systems to observe the seafloor in three dimensions. The vessel cost 18 million Euros. The Science and Innovation Minister, Cristina Garmendia, chaired the launching ceremony served as the godmother Rosalia Mera, from Inditex.
The "Ramon Margalef", has 46 meters length and will be based in Vigo, and develop its activities in Spanish territory waters.
