Barreras build a search for metals of industrial application ship, of 280 million euro
A ship of 160 meters long and 30 meters beam which will search industrial application metals as copper, titanium, iridium or silver. Up to now transformed crafts have been used for prospecting, but never a specific project for the finding of this metals had been developed.
Barreras obtained the construction after submit an offer competing against the best shipyards in the world. The shipping company “Un sea Shipping”, consortium composed of American, Autralian and Norwegian companies, chose the project presented by the president of the Vigo’s shipyard, José Francisco González Viñas.
The investment of the search of metals ship, which construction begun the last month of October and which will be delivered at the end of 2011, is of 280 million euro, that turn this ship into the most expensive ship built in the Vigo’s ria in the last years. Further more it cost twice the one with the record, a hotel ship to support oil rig that is buiding in Barreras and valued at 150 million euro.
