CUSTOMS WILL PROVIDE LAST GENERATION SHIPS TO GALICIA

Customs Surveillance Service (SVA , Spanish acronym) has delivered to El Sacre Port in A Coruña a ship qualified by the experts as a last generation vessel. The ship is waiting for the installation of a submachine gun on the deck to be fully equipped and therefore to have the capacity for carrying out the surveillance service from Cabo Vilán to Estaca de Bares, although it can operate in other places of the Coruña coast. The SVA delivered to the Vigo base the Albatros, which is already operating. These two ships are 35 meters long and each one of them is propelled by 2 engines of 2.000 horses, which allows reaching a speed of 32 nodes. In addition, the ships are built with last generation fibbers and have a propulsion system of hydro-jets, a system that favours reaching high speed and a great improvement on the ship manoeuvring. The ships also have available an auxiliary motorboat to aid during seizes, said boats aid to dock the ship for proceeding its investigation or arrest. They also have available state of the art searching systems. In addition the SVA substituted in Riveira the Alcaraván III for the Alcaraván II, which had its berth at the A Coruña Port.
Within the SVA fleet renovation is forecasted that the ships will be built at the Rodman Polyships shipyard located in Vigo. Whenever each one of them is finished at the factory it will stay in Vigo for full a year for undergoing the perceptive tests included in the guarantee. This is the reason why the Galician bases will have available almost always the last ships that exited the shipyard. (Source: La Voz de Galicia).
