Aeromarine’s Anti-Collision Early Warning System

The Early Warning System will be officially launched during the Navalia Technical Conference on 20 May at 12:00 noon in the Daniel Castelao Conference Room, ground -2.

Developed entirely by Aeromarine and already implemented by several shipowners, the Early Warning System combines radar echo detection, or data from other sensors, with a high-resolution camera, preferably equipped with artificial intelligence. This enables the identification and visual confirmation of the type of echo detected, helping to prevent collisions and improve the operational safety of navigation.

The system operates as an intelligent support layer for the bridge, integrating with the SOLAS navigation equipment already installed on board, which represents a significant cost saving. Based on information from radar echoes, sensors and video imagery, the Early Warning System analyses the vessel’s surroundings in real time and generates visual and audible alerts when it detects a potential collision risk from an obstacle at sea, such as vessels, containers, cetaceans or other floating objects, actively marking the threat.

By implementing the Early Warning System, the crew receives more information, faster, in potential collision situations, enabling immediate and effective decision-making. This is especially important in scenarios involving restricted visibility, high traffic density or the presence of slow-moving objects on the sea surface. The system also incorporates algorithms and machine learning, allowing its database to be enriched over time in order to progressively improve detection, reduce false alarms and adapt its behaviour to each operational environment.

Aeromarine’s Anti-Collision Early Warning System is compatible with the main SOLAS X-Band radar manufacturers on the market, including Sperry Marine, Furuno, Kelvin Hughes, Raytheon, SAM, SAAB and Navico, among others. This facilitates integration on board vessels without the need to replace the main navigation equipment, with the resulting cost savings. The system also enables the recording and playback of sightings, contributing to the continuous improvement of the system and to the protection of the marine environment, while also providing valuable data for the scientific community.

Aeromarine’s Anti-Collision Early Warning System is easy to install and requires minimal maintenance. It also allows remote access for real-time image monitoring.
