The naval auxiliary Ibercisa achieves record figures and heads for international expansion
It reached 36 million turnover in 2023, supplying equipment for Maritime Rescue, the IEO, the Italian Navy, New Zealand and Australia.
The naval auxiliary Ibercisa closed 2023 with excellent results in terms of growth and technological innovation. The company headed by Roberto Rodríguez, which specialises in the design and manufacture of deck machinery, posted a record turnover of nearly 36 million euros last year, which represents a jump of almost 50% compared to the previous period (starting from 24 million). Profits have also doubled. The improvement in the international projection of the Vigo-based company, which offers a remote assistance service, suggests that it will be able to consolidate this expansion.
By markets, it is remarkable the growth of the Galician naval supplier in the national territory. In Spain, the company increased its turnover from 2.3 million euros in 2022 to 9 million euros in 2023. Ibercisa's sources explain the causes of this growth, such as that in the last financial year "important orders were delivered, such as the whole package of deck machinery for the rescue vessel Heroínas de Sálvora". This is the new flagship of the Sociedad de Salvamento y Seguridad Marítima (Sasemar), built with a budget of more than 35 million euros. Recently presented, the order will be dedicated to search and rescue in shipwrecks, the towing of damaged vessels, extinguishing fires on ships or the fight against polluting spills at sea. Ibercisa has also left its mark on another promise of the Spanish fleet, the Odón de Buen oceanographic vessel, which is being built at the Armón shipyard in Vigo. For this vessel, which will be able to examine the seabed at depths of up to 6,000 metres, they have designed and manufactured the gantries.
