Ría de Vigo Shipyard is building the civil guard largest patrol boat

The ship is already visible on one of the shipyard slipways, which has five contracts in force
Ría de Vigo shipyard (formerly Barreras) displays on one of its slipways what the largest ocean patrol vessel of the Civil Guard will be, which will bear the name of “Duque de Ahumada”, founder of the Spanish armed institute.
The ship, sizes between 75 and 85 meters in length, costs 35 million Euro and will join the Civil Guard maritime service fleet next year (Semar). The start of its construction, laying the keel, took place last November and, before ending the year, launching will take place to continue work afloat and delivery in 2025.
The multipurpose ship will have the capacity to navigate in harsh seas and weather conditions and will be able to remain up to 30 days without touching port. She will be assigned to carry out patrol tasks in the territorial sea and international waters such as the fight against smuggling or illegal immigration control. It will have a platform for helicopters landing and another 20 m-long to locate castaways provisionally, as stated by Ghenova engineering, which carried out the design.
The shipyard, that recently launched a freezer fishing vessel for Copemar Vigo’s shipowner, is building an oceanographic vessel for Iceland and has two other constructions awarded, a ferry for French Polynesia and a trawler for Iceland.
