Armón Vigo “ties” a fourth contract with Moscuzza and strengthens its position in Argentina


The shipowner intends to renew its fleet in the factory from Vigo because of its “efficiency and reputation”. It sums eight orders for fishing and oceanographic vessels for Patagonian waters in two years. Armón Vigo is to the present day the shipyard with the biggest workload of the estuary, apart from H.J. Barreras Megayacht, and has underpinned its position as a leader in shipbuilding for Argentina. 

To the fishing vessel delivered yesterday is added a 52 metres-long oceanographic, Victor Angelescu, which participated on the second search of the ARA San Juan submarine crew. It holds other four upcoming projects for the same country (Inidep oceanographic institute, Moscuzza itself and Valastro, through joint venture with Newsan) and two in the negociation stage (Moscuzza and Conarpesa).

It was Vic who came upon Armón Vigo although Albino Morán has worked as a consultant for the Argentinian company in the last 30 years. “I came to Vigo to see two vessels with the aim of buying and extending them”. They asked for a budget and decided on building it from scratch, “tailored for us”, with design of the shipowner and the shipyard. There are 39,9 metres and 560 cubic metre capacity in addition to the next shrimp campaign of the fishery, starting in March. José Américo was delivered twelve months after the implementation of the contract, “great deadline”. The keel laying of the two-expected wet-fish vessels, which will be also delivered next year, will take place in March.

The shipyard will start the construction of the second order of Inidep next month, a coastal vessel 52 metres long valued in over 6 million dollars. The biggest joint order of Armón Vigo is that from Nueva Pescanova, which has not yet come into effect, according to which three trawlers of 52 metres in-length for Namibia and a beamer shrimper of 30 metres for Mozambique are going to be built in the slipways of Beiramar. Two more shellfish vessels will be built by Armón’s subsidiary in Burela.
