Navantia reach the motor control contract of a Brazilian corvette
The Brazilian Navy has communicated to Navantia the award of the contract for the supply of the motor control systems of an Inhauma corvette. Additionally, there is a possibility of modernise the rest of the series until a total of four units. The cost of the contract is 1 million Euros for a ship, and it means a 6.000 hours of workload for the centres MOTORES and SISTEMAS DE CONTROL. The importance of this contract is mainly the good positioning of Navantia in Brazil, and the possibility of new contracts in this country.
Nowadays they are also offering, together with the German company MTU new motors for the modernization programme of the Niteroi frigates. On the other hand, Navantia also has presented an offer for the design, technology transfer and partial building of 5 frigates, 5 patrol boats, and 1 logistic vessel and is participating in other tenders to build other vessels as aircraft carriers, amphibious and ocean-graphics.
