Navalia Will Start a World Tour to Attract Investments for its Next Edition

Representatives of the Navalia exhibition, the most important naval show in Spain, began in Hamburg a world tour to attract investors and observers of the sector to Galicia for the next edition of the exhibition The official presentation of Navalia 2008 took place in Hamburg, where it was held the most important fair worldwide related with the shipbuilding industry. Said presentation means the beginning of a campaign undertaken by the Galician exhibition to consolidate its position –within the first four– worldwide. To consolidate this position, the people responsible for Navalia will organize ceremonies in different countries with interests on the naval sector, with regard to shipbuilding and equipment or, also, those countries important with regard to their capacity of being prospective clients or buyers of vessels for their fishing or merchant fleet.
The success of the first edition of Navalia held this year, along with the activity developed during these past days at the German exhibition, has ensured the attendance of different German companies to the Galician exhibition. In addition, the management of the German fair has shown its interest on attending to the exhibition that will be held in Vigo, which is an unusual gesture of an organization that usually does not participate directly in other shows. We must take into account that the veteran Hamburg fair has a great capacity of drawing companies and commercial delegations from their country.
In addition to their exhibition objectives, Navalia aims to agglutinate the Galician naval industry interests. The idea is to take advantage of the good moment that the sector is experiencing worldwide –the world demand is higher than the production capacity of the shipyards– so local companies can gain steady clients for the future, taking into account the ups and downs expected to take place during the next decade. Galicia must keep its strategic position before the initiatives fom other competitors.
The Manager of the Spanish exhibition, Javier Arnau, had interviews with representatives of its counterparts in Rotterdam –the second most important exhibition worldwide– and Vietnam, one of the shows growing more in the Asiatic continent, where most of the shipbuilding industry worldwide is moving. Both shows are interested on bringing delegations from their countries to attend to the Spanish exhibition in 2008, the former due to the importance of the exhibition in capital assets and the later to gain clients for their shipyards and to learn about the last technologies from the sector.
The Hamburg naval industry fair, SMM 06, was held between the 26th and the 29th of last September and counted with the attendance of more than 1.500 companies and more than 50.000 professional visitors from 50 different countries. During this fair, of biennial frequency, important alliances between international naval industry agents are shaped. Navalia attended to the German fair as exhibitor with a stand within the Spanish delegation.
