Navalia Attends the Annual Dinner of the Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers
During the event, the Innovation Award 2026 was presented to the best project showcased in the Innovation Area at Navalia 2026.
Navalia´s CEO, Javier Arnau, attended the traditional annual dinner organised by the Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, held just before the summer holiday period. During the event, Arnau presented the Innovation Award 2026 to the best project exhibited in the Innovation Area of the latest edition of Navalia. The Innovation Area was organised by AINE and sponsored by the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium. The award, announced on the final day of Navalia, was presented to the project Lenny, Offshore Energy Storage, developed by Enercop.
The initiative is currently undergoing a technical and economic feasibility study with the aim of moving forward to the construction of a prototype in 2027. The project is being modelled through advanced simulations under a range of climate and operational scenarios, assessing aspects such as the platform, guidance systems, mooring solutions and compatibility with other offshore renewable energy technologies.
The jury particularly recognised the project's potential to address the energy storage and decarbonisation challenges promoted by the European Union, as well as its sustainable design, since the system is fully recyclable, requires no natural resource consumption during operation and does not rely on critical raw materials. The project is also supported by NextGenerationEU funding through the IDAE-MITECO "New Business Models" programme.
