The PVV Chamber of Comerce and the Free Trade Zone promote the internationalization of Galician SMEs at Navalia.
The agreement allocates nearly €83,000 to the organization of an incoming trade mission for Galician SMEs in the shipbuilding sector during the trade fair Navalia, from May 19th to 21st, and a business networking event for SMEs in the fishing, canning, and seafood sectors during Conxemar, from October 6th to 8th.
The Vigo Free Trade Zone and the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo and Vilagarcía have signed a new agreement to carry out international trade promotion initiatives, continuing the line of collaboration both entities have developed in recent years. The agreement, signed this morning by the State Delegate at the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium, David Regades, and the president of the Chamber, José García Costas, will enable the implementation of an internationalization support program focused on two strategic sectors of the Galician economy: shipbuilding and seafood products.
The initiatives will take place within the framework of two of the main trade fairs held in Vigo. On the one hand, during Navalia, which will be held from May 19th to 21st, an incoming trade mission aimed at SMEs in the shipbuilding sector will be organized. On the other hand, coinciding with Conxemar, from October 6th to 8th, a business networking event focused on SMEs in the fishing, canning, and seafood sectors will be held.
These initiatives are aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises with registered offices or production centers in Galicia, including both exporting companies and those with export potential, as well as businesses seeking to strengthen their foreign trade departments and access new international markets.
The agreement will finance 100% of the organizational costs of both initiatives within the framework of the Pyme Global program, managed by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and involving the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo and Vilagarcía de Arousa. A budget of nearly €83,000 has been allocated for the implementation of the program, financed 60% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 40% by the Vigo Free Trade Zone Consortium.
The president of the PVV Chamber, José García Costas, stated “this agreement reinforces our commitment to the SMEs’ internationalization, especially in sectors that are so strategic for our economy as shipbuilding and seafood products.” “Through initiatives such as those we will develop at Navalia and Conxemar, we facilitate direct access for our companies to international buyers and partners, who can also experience first-hand the excellence of our offering on-site, generating greater business opportunities,” he explained. In this regard, he thanked the collaboration with the Vigo Free Trade Zone, which “allows us to continue boosting the competitiveness of the Galician business fabric and supporting our SMEs in their growth in international markets.”
The State Delegate of the Vigo Free Trade Zone, David Regades, from his part, pointed out that “the Chamber is not only a key partner for the Consortium in many of our most important projects, such as the High Technology Incubator we are building on López Mora Street. It is also a strategic ally in shared interests such as supporting the internationalization of our SMEs, especially in sectors as important as shipbuilding and fishing, as reflected in this agreement.” The Delegate also stressed the importance of innovation, “something both the Chamber and we are working on in order to support the business community and consolidate the present and future of industry.”
