Ferrol will host the first edition of Navalia Summit Defence in April 2027
This is a new strategic initiative within the Navalia ecosystem, designed to address, in depth and with focus, shipbuilding industry major challenges are facing. The trade fair's organizers held a new Executive Committee meeting, which included a visit to Navantia Ferrol facilities.
For the first time in its history, Navalia trade fair organizers moved their Executive Committee meeting to Ferrol, specifically to Navantia shipyard facilities. From there, its president, José García Costas, announced the city will host the first edition of Navalia Summit Defence in April 2027.
With this decision, Navalia ecosystem takes another step forward, creating a new space for the naval sector. Navalia Summit is born as a new initiative designed to address, in depth and with focus, the major challenges facing the naval sector in a global context marked by technological transformation, geopolitical instability, and the need to strengthen domestic industrial capabilities.
Offering a distinct identity compared to Navalia Exhibition and Navalia Meeting, Navalia Summit is designed as a selective, high-level, thematic event focused on reflection, strategic analysis, and the forging of alliances around a single key issue for the naval sector.
The first edition of Navalia Summit will take place at the Navantia Ferrol shipyard and will be entirely dedicated to defence field, understood in its broadest sense: military shipbuilding, maritime security, dual-use technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber defence, and European strategic autonomy.
In this regard, and as could not be otherwise, Ferrol is a natural venue for Navalia Summit Defence. Its history, its current industrial activity, and its strategic role make it an ideal location to host this new format. The city represents one of the main military shipbuilding in Spain centres, with a long tradition linked to the Navy and the defence industry.
Tenth Edition
Navalia’s tenth edition kicked off the year with excellent occupancy rates and, once again, backed by the International Trade Fair certificate, a distinction awarded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business, through the State Secretariat for Trade. García Costas also referred to this during the Executive Committee meeting, while expressing his gratitude to Navantia for their cooperation supporting the visit. The members of the Executive Committee were received by the Director of Operations and Business, Gonzalo Mateo-Guerrero, and the Shipyard Director, Eduardo Dobarro, before touring the shipyard facilities.
