Navalia participates for the first time in the General Assembly of the Spanish Wind Energy Business Association
The fair formalised its entry into AEE last March.
Navalia's director, Javier Arnau, has just participated, for the first time, in the General Assembly of the Spanish Wind Energy Association held in Madrid. Among the issues discussed, the importance of a sector such as wind power, which is strategic for Spain as a country, was highlighted. In addition, the importance of offshore wind power in the short term was stressed, following the ruling this week in which the Supreme Court (SC) upheld Royal Decree 150/2023 approving the maritime spatial plans for the five Spanish marine demarcations, as it did not find any deviation of power or arbitrariness.
In this regard, the government identified up to 19 areas throughout Spain with high potential for the development of offshore wind energy. In the case of the North Atlantic area, i.e. the entire Galician coast and the Cantabrian Sea, up to eight potential sites are planned for offshore wind farms, half of the total. Five on the Galician coast, all on the Cantabrian coast except one, located some 50 kilometres from the Cíes, opposite the mouth of the river Miño, according to the Maritime Space Management Plans.
Likewise, and with regard to offshore wind, during the General Assembly it was emphasised that not only is this segment imperative for the construction industry, but also in terms of infrastructures, as is the case with port authorities.
The International Shipbuilding Industry Exhibition formalised its entry into the AEE at the end of March, and it did so after holding a business meeting in Vigo focused on floating offshore wind energy. This event, organised by Navalia, was attended by AEE's general manager Juan Virgilio Márquez.
