Barreras negotiates two tuna boats to continue alive in 2012
The Board of Director of Hijos de J. Barreras is toying with the possibility of hire two big tuna fishing boats for a Vasque ship owner. It is Albacora Group, an important Spanish brand in the tuna market. The construction of the order valued in 60 millions Euros, would be the first of the year 2012. The interested ship owner is the brand controlled by Ignacio Lachaga, which president is, at the same time, joint owner of Barreras, with the 20% of the share capital. The budget for the two vessels is not closed, but it would be around 60 millions Euros. It would mean the Barreras return to the big tuna boats construction, a market that it left in 2006, after had built 115 meter long units.
Fishing boats do not participate of the tax lease regime of tax bonus to the Spanish shipbuilding. The bet for build two fishing boats without subsidy is interpreted as the first commitment of the current owners of the shipyard to begin the way of recovery.
