METALSHIPS & DOCKS CONTRACTS AN OFFSHORE SHIP UNIQUE IN THE WORLD
The construction of the ship, unique in the world, will be developed entirely in Vigo Metalships & Docks, steel division of the group Rodman Polyships, has contracted with the Norwegian-Dutch partnership North Ocean 1KS, with base in Bergen, the construction of a ship offshore specialized in submarine works and transport, as well as tended of electrical cables. It is a ship denominated in the sector Umbilical Construction Support Vessel (UCSV), whose construction has not been made to date in any shipyard of the world.
The ship will have the most modern technique features, mainly in its functions related to the environment, so that those that even surpass the demands by the European Union. The length of the ship will be of 120 meters and the sleeve of 27 ms and will count on a crew of 120 people.
For its construction, prepared for the first trimester of 2006, Metalships estimates that 600,000 working hours will be used, and it should be emphasized that all the work will be made entirely in Vigo.
