Tailored engineering for the sea: Gefico’s customized solutions for the fishing industry

Custom reverse osmosis technology that optimizes resources, efficiency, and operational continuity on factory vessels.

In an environment where operational reliability, energy efficiency, and onboard space optimization are critical factors, the fishing industry is moving toward technological solutions specifically designed for each vessel. Gefico has positioned itself as a technology partner through the development of customized equipment adapted to real operating conditions and to the production requirements of each shipowner.

A representative example is the AQE-600DR reverse osmosis plant, designed for the factory vessel Centurión del Atlántico, which operates in the South Atlantic (Tierra del Fuego). The system incorporates energy recovery and produces 600 m³/day of low-salinity freshwater, ensuring a continuous supply under extremely demanding conditions. Its development was based on a comprehensive analysis of the vessel’s operations and included a reinforced structural design, optimized integration in a compact modular format, and a configuration focused on energy efficiency and operational continuity.

The installation of the Gefico AQE-600DR plant improves operational stability and water resource management during fishing campaigns. Gefico’s experience in customized developments demonstrates that tailored engineering delivers tangible benefits: increased productivity, fewer adjustments during operations, optimized use of space, and reduced energy consumption.
