Aimen and Frosio celebrate 10 years of collaboration boosting international certification in industrial coatings and insulation
These training activities have been carried out at different locations across Spain and Portugal
AIMEN Technology Centre marks the tenth anniversary of its collaboration with FROSIO, the Norwegian international reference body for the certification of inspectors in surface treatment and industrial insulation. Ten years of joint work have consolidated AIMEN as one of the world’s leading internationally accredited training centres in this field.
Over this period, AIMEN has delivered 55 FROSIO courses, training a total of 469 participants. These training activities have been carried out at different locations across Spain and Portugal, specifically in Ferrol, Madrid, O Porriño, Vila-seca (Tarragona), Bilbao, Seville, Zamudio, Tarragona, Vilanova de Gaia and Gijon, reflecting the geographical reach and international scope of this collaboration.
FROSIO (Certifying Body for Surface Treatment & Insulation Inspectors and Surface Treatment Operators) is an organisation accredited in accordance with ISO 17024, responsible for defining international standards for the training and certification of inspectors in anticorrosion protection, surface treatment and industrial insulation.
A decade driving technical qualification in Spain
Since AIMEN obtained official FROSIO accreditation in 2016, both organisations have worked closely together to offer high-level training programmes aligned with the most demanding international standards. This collaboration has made a decisive contribution to the professionalisation of the industrial sector in areas such as shipbuilding, Oil & Gas, energy, metal construction and industrial maintenance.
AIMEN, an international benchmark in FROSIO certification
In the field of coating inspection certification, AIMEN is one of only six FROSIO-authorised training bodies worldwide, a position that reflects the robustness and quality of its training model.
As a result, over the course of this decade-long collaboration, AIMEN has ranked eighth worldwide, among more than 90 countries, both in terms of the number of examinations conducted and the number of inspectors certified under the FROSIO scheme.
Currently, more than 500 active FROSIO-certified inspectors are working in Spain, the vast majority of whom obtained their certification through AIMEN. This highlights the direct impact of the partnership on sector professionalisation and on the international positioning of certification in Spain. The collaboration between AIMEN and FROSIO also extends to industrial insulation, where AIMEN is one of eight internationally authorised training bodies to deliver this certification. This qualification enables technicians, engineers and inspectors to plan, monitor and inspect industrial insulation works in process plants, power generation facilities, offshore installations and other demanding industrial environments.
Training adapted to new learning modalities
Over the past ten years, FROSIO training programmes delivered by AIMEN have evolved to adapt to new teaching modalities, incorporating methodologies that effectively balance theoretical training and applied practice. In this context, AIMEN has introduced blended learning formats, combining online content with on-site training and specialised practical sessions, facilitating access to certification without compromising technical rigour or training quality. All accredited courses follow a rigorous programme aligned with FROSIO requirements and include official examinations combining theoretical and practical assessment, ensuring a high level of professional competence.
A partnership looking to the future
The collaboration between AIMEN and FROSIO continues to grow, with the aim of further expanding the training offer, incorporating new technologies and strengthening the international presence of certified professionals in Spain. With this tenth anniversary, AIMEN reaffirms its commitment to technical excellence, specialised training and the promotion of talent in key industrial sectors.
