Freire begins sheet cutting for the USA vessel
Vessel’s launch is scheduled to take place in August 2022
Freire Shipyard began this week with the construction of the oceanographic vessel for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (Mbari) in California (USA). The ship was designed by Glosten engineering office and will be named David Packard. The launch is scheduled to take place in August 2022.
It is a 50 m-Long and 12.8 m-Wide oceanographic with capacity for 30 people, 12 crew members and 18 scientists. The new research vessel will allow deep sea exploration, below 1,000 meters - to the abyssal plain, with ROV Doc Ricketts, an MBARI deep immersion remotely operated vehicle.
