The Spanish construction rate doubled the European one

Private shipyards had a turnover of 628 million in 2014 and they were leaders in Europe hiring fishing vessels
With a 42% more of contracts of new vessels – more than twice the sector orders in Europe – and a turnover of 628 million Euros, private shipyards live a growth and strengthening step. An atmosphere of trust that was reflected in the general assembly of Pymar held today in Madrid and closed by the minister José Manuel Soria.
Close to the end of the first half of the year, this positive trend continues with the increase in contracts realized by Spanish private shipyards. Last year end with an order list of 40 vessels. A 94% of the deliveries in 2014 were for foreign ship owners, which confirms the exporter character of the sector.
Shipyards dedicated to maintenance, repairs and transformation also have a positive balance in 2014. During the year, they registered a fast place of these activities for oil offshore platforms and support vessels.
In addition, the repair activity was important in some shipyards dedicated to construction which find in this kind of projects the way to maintain a high level of activity.
