The president of the Morocco's Chamber of fishing visits the Port of Vigo

The president of the Vigo's Port Authority, Ignacio López-Chaves, met with his equivalent of the Morocco's Chamber of Fishing, Kamal Sabri, who is in the Galician city because of his participation in the fourth edition of the International Shipbuilding Exhibition (Navalia) Morocco has started an ambitious strategy of updating and modernization of the different fishing sector segments. This strategy wants to turn the fishing sector of Morocco into a real develop motor. The country has the aim of renew its fishing fleet next years, so they are studying the possibility of this renewal take place in the Port of Vigo.

According to the Chamber of Fishing of Morocco leader, his aim is to reach agreements between Moroccan ship-owners and Galician shipyards so part of this fleet - 2/3 of a fleet, around 1,800 vessels - could be built in our community.

In 2011, commercial deals between Vigo and Morocco add up to 125,492 tones, enhancing specially the trade of cars (13,140 tones), containers (22,190 tones), net granite (10.898 tones), woods (13,261 tones, or other granites and marbles (29,338 tones).
