64th AINE International Congress Innovation Zone will unveil a total of 16 disruptive projects in the shipbuilding industry
Sponsored by Navalia and Ponti & Partners, they focus on topics as diverse as autonomous vessels, submarines, immersive technologies, and next-generation fuels.
The 64th International Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry, organized by the Association of Naval Engineers of Spain (AINE), is just around the corner. The 16 projects selected to be part of the 64th Innovation Zone, sponsored by Navalia and Ponti & Partners, will focus on topics as diverse as autonomous vessels, submarines, immersive technologies, and next-generation fuels to revolutionize naval engineering.
All initiatives have in common their high innovation content. Entrepreneurs and companies from various regions of Spain, including Asturias, Castilla y León, Galicia, the Basque Country, Valencia, Andalusia, and Catalonia, presented their projects this year. Companies from Peru are also joining the program, thus reaffirming the international reach of the Innovation Zone.
Among other technologies, the Innovation Zone will cover the following areas: marine renewable energy; wave, tidal, current, and offshore wind energy capture for sustainable energy transition; drones and autonomous vessels to improve efficiency, safety, and range of maritime operations; alternative fuels to reduce emissions and the carbon footprint of maritime transport; high-speed vessels using foils and other advanced hydrodynamic technologies; submarine design and construction; immersive training systems with virtual and augmented reality; digital twins for maritime assets; advanced materials; technologies for marine environmental protection; logistics and maritime transport; and systems and protocols development to improve maritime safety.
The 64th International Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry will be held at Gijon Conference Centre from 26th to28th of March and will offer a comprehensive program analysing shipbuilding and maritime industry as a driver of blue economy and a promoter of a sustainable future for all.
