The International Shipbuilding exhibition of Vigo has just set up its Executive Committee for NAVALIA 2020. At this first meeting, Mr Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Local Government (Xunta de Galicia) President has assisted for the first time together with the Economic, Employment and Industrial Advisor, Mr Francisco Conde. The organization counts, since 2006, on a “highest level” team, where edition after edition, every sector and agents directly or indirectly involved with the naval industry are included. Navalia’s President, and highest representative of Hijos de J.Barreras Shipyards, Mr José Garcia Costas, took advantage of the occasion to thank Galician President and Local Government’s (Xunta de Galicia) disposition to join the event: “it is an honour for us to count on your presence on this first meeting; we wish 2020 edition will mean a great international boost and we are sure Xunta de Galicia will support us on this objective. This support is already been shown today with the President and the Finance Advisor attendance, and I fully trust they will do it during the organization of the next Navalia”. Mr García Costas has also highlighted one more year “the altruist work and effort that our Executive Committee has been done since this project has started”.
New incorporations of Gabadi and Fernandez Jove are this year added to the members of previous shows. “Both companies are from Ferrol and they have a great experience on interested sectors for us, such as military and offshore wind energy industry”, explained Javier Arnau, Navalia’s director. Moreover, for this first Committee new representatives of Vigo’s Free Trade Consortium, the University of Vigo and Navantia joined us.
Javier Arnau informed during the meeting about occupancy rate of Navalia’s 8th edition. The organization has already started the promotion of the new IFEVI pavilion as Halls 1 and 2 are nearly full. “on the new area of the fairground we have several pre-bookings of space for international delegations. We have been working with several embassies since November, -USA, Norway, Holland, Denmark and Turkey- and this Thursday we will have meetings in Madrid with Germany, Sweden, China and Chile”.
One of the big objectives the organization has set for Navalia 2020 are to increase even more the international presence. “We would like the 8th edition will have the main brokers, shipyards and shipowner worldwide” explained Mr Arnau to Committee members. It is an ambitious objective to which “we will have to give shape next year”, but “essential” for naval sector work receive the “international recognition” that it is worth and will be translated into a “major working load for our companies”, confirmed the trade fair director.
