Auxiliary companies from the naval industry begin a mission to explore the Russian market

Asime, Galicia's metal industries association, this week began a trade mission to Russia, where its members will meet with entrepreneurs and representatives from business organisations and institutions. The mission will visit the cities of Saint Petersburg and Moscow. The former holds enormous potential mainly for naval activity but also for car manufacturing and other metal sector activities. This, together with the increasingly open Russian market, makes the city a business opportunity that many companies should bear in mind For that reason, and because of the Mibs trade fair in Moscow, Asime member companies and representatives of the association's managing board are participating in this mission. According to recent statements from the Ministry for Economic Development, the increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the last two quarters indicates reactivation of the Russian economy. This revitalisation of the economy in linked to an increase in reserves and relative regeneration of the retail economy and investment, which should favour growth in this indicator at over 3.2% in 2010.
Growth
According to Mr. Enrique Mallón, spokesman for Asime, "Russia is a country with growth, one of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India and China), and although the current situation is also difficult for them, there are opportunities and we hope that the work we have been doing with Russia will show some fruit during this week." He added, "We have had several agents working in the Russian market for some time and we want our companies to benefit from this. There is a market and now we have to make an effort."
The organisation of this mission, which has been at the invitation of the Chambers of Commerce, business organisations, and metal sector companies (naval, automotive industry, light engineering), includes meetings with top representatives from the inviting bodies.
In Saint Petersburg the participants in the mission will go to the most relevant companies in the metal sector and visit several shipyards, such as the Admiralty and Baltic Shipyards. (Source: LA VOZ DE GALICIA)
