Fine Awards gather 400 professionals in Vigo to recognize "excellence" in the maritime industry
Nodosa, Armón, Balearia or Sener, among the winners of the sixth edition of the awards. The jury has awarded an extraordinary reward to José Pereira Álvarez, Grupo Pereira founder.
FINE awards sixth edition, at the Hotel Pazo dos Escudos in Vigo as part of Navalia celebration, has managed to bring together over 400 professionals from the shipbuilding, maritime and fishing sectors to celebrate the "excellence of the national maritime sector". These recognitions, already consolidated in the sector annual calendar, value the potential for work, development, and innovation of the industry as a whole.
Thus, this year a total of 9 awards have been given to different companies and professionals in the sector. This is the case of Armón, which has won the prize for the outstanding ship of the year for its work with the “Eleonor Roosevelt” built for Balearia, which in turn was awarded the shipowner of the year. The award was presented by José Ignacio Cuenca, Managing Director for Vulkan Española, to Laudelino Alperi Baragaño, Executive Director and CEO of Armón.
The outstanding shipyard of the year was Nodosa. Rafael Outeiral, Director of Institutional Relations at Nodosa Shipyard, received the award from Iñaki Arbulu, Managing Director & CEO of Grupo Arbulu; while the award for the best maritime energy project went to Sener's "Hivewind Concept". Roberto Fernández, General Director of the company's maritime business unit, collected the award. Rafael Polo was recognized as the best professional of the year, while The General Directorate of the Merchant Marine received the distinction of “Outstanding Institution”.
Ceferino Ron, Gondan shipyards General Management adviser, received recognition for his entire professional career for "his contribution to the promotion of the Spanish maritime industry and his long career within the sector". The award was presented by Juan Manuel Cano, Marine and Offshore Director for Spain and Portugal at Roxtec.
In the fishing field there were two recognitions: one for Krustagroup company, in the "Fishing Sector" category. Elías Suarez Garmendia, President and CEO of Krustagroup received the award, presented by Javier Garat, Cepesca Secretary
Apart from that, FINE jury wanted to give an extraordinary recognition to José Pereira Álvarez, founder of Grupo Pereira, for his capacity for work, development and innovation in the fishing industry since 1955. The award was collected by Ruy Andrade Pereira, founder’s grandson and current Director of Business Development of Pereira.
‘One more year, the quality and transparency of FINE Awards have been endorsed by the wide experience of the members of the jury, made up of outstanding importance institutions representatives in the maritime industry and professionals from the sector who represent supply and demand.’, indicates the organization. The FINE awards are promoted by Peldaño group, and in this edition, they have been sponsored by Bureau Veritas, Cepsa, Grupo Arbulu, Rolls-Royce, Roxtec, Sika, Vulkan and Wiresa, with the co-operation of Finanzauto Marine and big entities such as Anave, Cepesca, Clúster Marítimo Español, Navalia and Sinaval.
