Spanish Government will launch a new PERTE for shipbuilding industry in February

Industry Minister works with Navantia and Pymar, state and private shipyards, in this PERTE where green hydrogen will have "an important role"

Spanish Government will launch a new Economic Recovery and Transformation Strategic Project (PERTE) for shipbuilding industry this February and it is working on another one focused on the circular economy, as announced by the Secretary General for Industry and SMEs, Raúl Blanco. Blanco pointed out that they are already working with Navantia and Pymar, the state and private shipyards, in this PERTE, where green hydrogen will have "an important role", as it has happened in the automotive industry, or the renewable energies development already launched by the Government. This PERTE has emerged from one of the shipbuilding sector demands to promote transformation of its value chain, through the axes of digitization, training, ecological transition and diversification of activity, taking advantage of the growing opportunities offered by wind power marine and new renewable energies.

At the end of last year, the Government already approved a PERTE for the development of green hydrogen, technologies linked to renewable energies and storage, in order to move a total amount of 16,300 million euros, 6,900 from public money and 9,500 from private investment. Almudena López del Pozo, CEO of Pymar, a company that integrates the Spanish private shipyards, has expressed her happiness with the news: "We value PERTE prospects very positively. It is a definitive commitment to the integration and transformation of the value chain of shipbuilding industry, which will allow us to take advantage of the offered opportunities by diversification towards marine energy from renewable sources, digitization and automation, the continuous improvement of its products and production sustainability processes and our professionals training".
