Spanish shipbuilding order book grows 12% in the first half

This is due to the boost or international shipowners, who triple the national ones.

The shipbuilding quarterly informative newsletter from the Industry Ministry points out the Spanish shipyards order book has grown a 12 % in the first half of the year compared to last year’s same period. This is due to international shipowners; whose orders triple the number to the national ones.

Spanish factories have totally an order book consisting of 64 units (15 nationals and 49 from exporting) what it means a 12% increase and an 8% CGT on top. From these 64 contracts, 38 are merchant ships and 26 fishing boats. The global CGT index is of 414 391 units. Twelve new contracts were signed in the first semester. From which, one is for a national shipowner and eleven for international ones. Seven of them are fishing boats and five merchant ships. In the same period twelve Keel laid down, 17 launches and nine deliveries.

According to the weighted activity index, 37% of CGT belongs to the Galician shipyards, 25% to Andalusian shipyards, 20% to Asturias region factories and 17% to Basque Country factories.
