Xunta and Aclunaga explore new business lines for the naval sector in Peru
Xunta and Aclunaga visit Peru these days looking for new business lines for the Galician naval sector.
The director of the Internationalisation department of IGAPE, Augusto Álvarez-Borrás, along with members of the Cluster of the Galician Naval Sector (ACLUNAGA), have held a meeting with the Production Minister of Peru, Daniel Córdova, where they discussed some issues related to the technological modernisation and the renewal of the fishing fleet. The Galician government expressed their interest in supporting our shipyards as well as the Peruvian shipowners on the search for suitable solutions to renovate and strengthen their fleet.
As reported in a statement, the Regional Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry, the Minister, aware of the capabilities and economic potential of Galicia, expressed his interest for the Galician business fabric and, specially, for a cluster industrial policy of the region, backed up by the Regional Government (Xunta) in its efforts to strengthen the productive framework, as a catalyst for cooperation between the Galician SME and the promotion of joint projects that seek the implementation of Industry 4.0, among other areas.
For his part, the Internationalisation director of IGAPE pointed the Galician Administration boosts the strategic Galician sector in the search for allies and clients in the international markets with programmes such as Galicia Exporta, which supports business missions like the one developed in Peru, organised by Aclunaga with the aim of obtaining contracts for the shipyards and the auxiliary industry of the sector. The programme, developed by the Regional Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry, through IGAPE, is endowed with 6,5 million euros in the current call.
Increase in abroad sales
Last year the Galician naval sector increased in 69,8% the abroad sales, emphasizing the positive evolution that is being experienced by the Galician exports in the last years. Galicia overcame for second consecutive year in 2017 the amount of 20.000 million euros till reaching 21.676 million euros, breaking its historical records once again.
The representation of the Galician government in Peru, which took advantage of the trade mission to visit shipyards and shipowners from this country, transmitted an invitation for the Peruvian Production Minister to visit Navalia next June.
