Rodman underpins its workload with the fifth vessel for Trasmapi

This will be the third high-speed catamaran they build in less than two years for this shipping line. It will come into action this summer.

Rodman Polyships Shipyard underpins its orderbook with the fifth catamaran for Trasmapi (Sercomisa), who trusts again in the factory from Meira, Moaña, to increase its passenger fleet, which covers routes in the Balearic Islands. Rodman Polyships Shipyard underpins its orderbook with the fifth catamaran for Trasmapi (Sercomisa), who trusts again in the factory from Meira, Moaña, to increase its passenger fleet, which covers routes in the Balearic Islands. Acording to some sources from the shipyards, the new construction, already in progress, is a Rodman 100 and will be the third fast-ferry built by the firm in less than two yearsfor this shipping line, that pretends to use this new ship this summer. The factory, specialized in glass fiber reinforced polyester vessels, will build a 30 metres-long catamaran with capacity for 306 people and according to the “strict requirements” of the High-Speed Craft Code (NGU) 2000.

Rated by Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, the vessel is fitted with a “specific design for the waters where it will develop its activity”, which in this case will be the route between Ibiza and Formentera. From the shipyard they informed that the construction “will represent a new challenge” and will imply “understanding the commitment for the environment, the energetic efficiency and security” started by Trasmapi through the incorporation of Rodman 90 in 2016, the Espalmador. According to the firm from Moaña, “the good results obtained of navigability, comfort and sustainability, have involved a new bet for the shipyard”.

The construction of this catamaran follows the delivery of the two last Rodman 111 patrol vessels for the Sultanate of Oman in December last year and underpins the workload of the factory. Precisely in that moment, they informed the shipyard continues fighting for more contracts with this Middle-East country, who consolidates itself as one of their most faithful clients. Apart from those five patrol vessels with 35,5 metres in-length they ordered another ten with 11,40 metres in-length last year, corresponding to model 33. The company is also currently in struggle with Astilleros del Ulla for the construction of two patrol vessels for the Galician Coastguard Service. Valued at 1,8 million euros, both shipyards are waiting to know the competition’s result after Easter.  LaunchingThe last delivery of Rodman for Trasmapi was in July last year. The last launching, for its part, took place this week with Seljm sailboat touching the waters of Vigo for the first time. As confirmed by Faro, this is a vessel that was completely redesigned for the Portuguese millionaire Patrício Miguel Guerry (Patrick) Monteiro de Barros. With a maximum speed of 12 knots, the ship will participate in the King’s Cup (Copa del Rey) and in the European Championship, from La Rochelle. Furthermore, Rodman closed a new distribution agreement with Top Class Yachting Ltd. Last month; which will represent the entire range of recreational yachting of Moaña, in Israel.
