UECC is repairing its car carrier "Autorunner" in Metalships in Vigo

  • Sector news
The Norwegian ship owner United European Car Carriers (UECC) has decided to repair for the first time their vessels in Vigo. The car carrier "Autorunner" is already in Metalships (exhibitor in Navalia 2012) to be cleaned and painted and to repair its main motor. "In this cases is where we become conscious of the need of building a new dock with more capacity to repair bigger boats", said shipyard sources (that will participate as exhibitor in Navalia from the 22nd to the 24th of May 2012 in Vigo).
The biggest dock of Metalships is 165 meters long and 27.5 meters wide, which is not enough to attend the needs of most vessels from UECC.
The shipyard presided by Manuel Rodríguez wants to build as soon as they can a new dock for "panamax" boats, "where the most important thing is not the length but the width, they need at least 32.5 meters".
The "Autorunner" work as support vessel to the ones UECC have for transporting vehicles from Vigo.
Its main line is the transport of vehicles from PSA to Algeria, although sometimes it works with services to the Mediterranean or Germany and France.
