Pemex will order Freire the tugboats design and technical management

The oil company has chosen the project that the shipyard from Vigo had developed for a French ship-owner Pemex has ordered to Construcciones Navales P. Freire the design and technical management of the tugboats that are going to be built in Galician and Mexican shipyards, and that are going to follow as example the units ordered in 2009 by the French ship-owner Société Remorquage Louis Thomas.

Vessels for the Mexican oil company will be a little bit longer, between 30 and 40 meters long, instead of the 25 meters of its predecessors, although the rest of the design will keep the same to the ones ordered by Louis Thomas. The only difference apart form the length will be the power that depends on the activity of the vessel.

The Freire's Deputy Manager, Marcos Freire, met in Mexico D.F. Pemex managers and Marine Secretary, who considered that Freire was the suitable shipyard to "unify guidelines" in the units design.

"Maximum responsible people for the minor fleet of Pemex valued really well that in 2009 - 2010 our shipyard had built 6 tug boats for Maerks, the biggest ship-owner of the world", said Marcos Freire.

The Vigo' shipyard responsible for explains that Pemex "have ratified our experience in this kind of vessels and have order to our technical office the design of the projects and the technical management of the building".

Marcos Freire said that by the moment "they do not talk about which shipyards will built the vessels neither how much vessels will built ach shipyard. We do not even have a date to awarding will be announced"

He affirmed the tug boats, that apart from floatels will include multi purpose vessels, is a "stable business for Mexico and Galicia" and added Mexican shipyards that will participate in it "are excellent colleagues for this big project, thanks to the technology and collaboration flow".

He added that Mexican shipyards in collaboration with them "have maximum credentials, and this is the basis for the programme success".

On its behalf, the PSOE sent a new report to the Congress president, Jesús Posada, demanding the presence of the SEPI's president, Ramón Aguirre, in the parliamentary Commission of Tax Office to show the assigned contracts between Navantia and Pemex for the construction of two vessels in Galician shipyards.
