Armón begins the construction of the first vessel for the Dutch Heerema
The shipyard from Vigo take over an international contract for two 72 meters long anchor vessels. The shipyard from Vigo Armon, from the group of Asturias with the same name, has begun the construction of the first of the two anchor vessels hired by the Dutch company Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), specialized in maritime service for oil industry. Vessels will be 72 meters long, 12 more than Husky and Retriever, according to the ship owner. The company keeps in their stands a seismic vessel stem from Factoría Naval de Marín and an ocean graphic for the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, ordered at the beginning to MCies.
The Panama Canal has also awarded Armon last October to build 14 tug boats to begin to work when the extension work of the biggest maritime flow in the world had finished. Although the possibility of building these units was in Vigo, they will be done in the two shipyards the company has in Asturias. The contract is of 158.3 million Dollars and Armon achieve it faced to other competitor from Spain, Europe, and South American and Asian countries, including some Chinese shipyards.
