Aister deliveries HS60 first unit, a worldwide pioneering interceptor for the Civil Guard Maritime Service

The sea trials carried out along Vigo’s Bay exceeded all expectations, both in terms of manoeuvrability and top speed, comfortably exceeding 60 knots.

Designed from scratch and with a completely innovative development, the HS60 interceptor prototype is now ready to start operating in Algeciras. The boat, designed by AISTER at its shipyard in Moaña, is designed to combat illegal immigration, drug trafficking and organized crime, and the truth is that the sea trials carried out at Vigo’s Bay showed great satisfactory results.

Top speed and manoeuvrability are its two strengths. Thanks to its experience in the construction of interceptors and a meticulous development of the project, AISTER has been able to far exceed all the expectations set. At 18 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, the HS60 comfortably exceeds 60 knots at top speed with its two inboard engines of 1,800 hp each, which drive two waterjets. The prototype design is the result of a great effort in design, engineering, search for performance, safety, and comfort.

The interceptor also guarantees a quick and fast response to situations requiring a sudden or unexpected manoeuvre, being able to stop completely in about two boat lengths from maximum speed. ts speed and manoeuvrability characteristics make HS60 the first boat of its kind in the world. With this new model designed to measure for the Civil Gard Maritime Service, AISTER has taken another step in the evolution of high-speed aluminium interceptors.

In addition to its performance in terms of speed and manoeuvrability, the HS60 has an internal steering position and an external one with 360° visibility and is highly habitable and comfortable, both in the cabin and in the engine room, thanks to the high standards of thermal and acoustic insulation. Designed for four crew members and includes ergonomic seats with anti-shock cushioning, as well as cabins and a kitchen for longer navigations.
