Astander will improve occupational risk prevention in ship refurbishment processes
The shipyard will receive aid from Sodercan for the development of an advanced prevention system
Astilleros de Santander (Astander) will develop an advanced system to improve occupational risk prevention and incident management in shipbuilding with funding from Sodercan, Society for Cantabria region Development within the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Innovation, Transportation and Trading. This organization has just resolved the call for aid of the ICT sector, with 19 selected projects where the shipyard is taking part.
Through this project, the company will incorporate an added value element in its offer, an improvement in terms of security in the different organizational control processes, human resources and prevention through an advanced system of risk prevention and incident management improvement. The system is developed in co-operation with GIDAI Group from the University of Cantabria.
The methodology encompasses a set of interrelated tasks, activities and actions carried out during ship repair and transformation processes. In this way, each new process will have the necessary information on tasks to be carried out, location of work, necessary prevention measures, number of own and/or subcontracted workers, and relevant information corresponding to other processes, among others.
