Offshore wind power and hydrogen: the Perte maritime's stake

Minister Reyes Maroto presented in Vigo sector aids, first call comes out in November

Offshore wind farms, construction of zero emission ships, more sustainable production systems and greater professional training. These are the four great naval challenges that require public-private collaboration to be successfully addressed. The Galician community, and specifically the city of Vigo, was chosen by the Government of Spain for the official presentation of the PERTE (Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation) of the shipbuilding sector, a key industry of the Galician economy that is going through an important transformation process and numerous challenges in the short and medium term,

The development of this project foresees a total investment of 1,460 million euros and is expected to contribute to the creation of nearly 3,200 quality jobs. The Maritime PERTE will promote transformative projects in the value chain of the shipbuilding sector. There will be a line of aid for comprehensive action for the modernization and diversification of the maritime sector, endowed with 200 million euros, managed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, whose call will be published during November. The projects that can be financed are the following: diversification (innovation in the value chain), digitization (digital transformation of the chain) and sustainability (circular economy, energy efficiency and environmental improvement). In addition, a transversal training and professional retraining plan must be presented.

15 projects have been presented to this mission with a budget of 57.2 million euros and request a subsidy of 42.1 million euros. 75 companies participate in these 15 projects, of which 43 are SMEs. In total, entities from 14 autonomous communities take part and in terms of project themes, the most recurrent issues are: offshore wind power, hydrogen and port logistics.
