Galician shipyards, silver medal in Eurozone for new orders

23 additional units on last 15 months, just behind Dutch-Russian naval, gets muscle with Kremlin support to fishing
Galician private shipbuilding industry has signed within last 15 months the building of 23 units, according to Sea Europe (European management barometer) with ordered vessels in the first three months of this year. Only Holland overflows, according to the same source, the activity level of Vigo and Pontevedra Bays shipyards. We will have to add to this workload, in a short period of time, fishing boats for Malvinas, Norway and Namibia, apart form minimum three tuna boats – from two Galician shipowners and one of Venezuela resources – which budgets have already been required, as FARO Newspaper got to know. Fishing and maritime transport, both passengers and goods, continue to be the main pillars where the sector has been feeding its muscle at a continental level.
Nodosa has been the most active in our orders on the first period of the year. To the second trawler for Rampesca, signed by the end of 2018, the vessel ordered by Pescapuerta (Falcon, 75m-Lengh) and two merchant ships for Royal Artic Line are added up. The dockyard from Marin has also kept an intense activity on repeating and in projects like the enlargement in eleven meters of Playa de Menduiña Dos. Armón Vigo, on his behalf, has just enter into force the second trawler ordered by Nueva Pescanova – from a seven units contract, shared with Armón Burela -, as well as a ferry of SNGV2 for Tahití. Freire Shipyard (Construcciones Navales Paulino Freire) has assumed the building of the new generation first tuna fish of Galician resources, in this case for Calvo Group, that begins, in this way, a renewing fleet process. Hijos de J. Barreras was able to crystallise, on the margins of Pemex decision of giving up the shareholders, a second unit for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, so they have inflated their wallet in up to 700 million Euro.
Competitors at a global level continuous to be stiff, last year worldwide activity was recovered in number of orders and new contracts. Added to the South-Korean subsidies eclosion, the Russian subsidies, with a high activity on the public shipyards with programs such as the investment quotas (fishing quotas against fleet invest). Two years ago, the Russian order book got 0; in 2018 was closed with 23 units and 263,000 CGT.
