Construction of the first Ritz-Carlton Cruise begins in Vigo
Hijos de J. Barreras has been committed with an order for two more ships for the company. The shipyard from Vigo, Hijos de J. Barreras, has started this week the construction of the first vessel of Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, cruise division of the luxury hotel and resorts brand Ritz-Carlton. The shipyard intends to close the contract of a second luxury cruise for this company in June, and for a third one before Christmas, as confirmed by their Chairman José García Costas this Thursday.
After the keel laying of the first luxury cruise that will be built by Barreras for the North-American hotel chain, García Costas has specified that there is an option with fixed prices the shipyard must exercise in a determined time period. For this reason, he confirmed that it wouldn’t be adventurous to say the contract of the second luxury cruise will come into force in June, and the third before Christmas. Regarding the luxury cruise keel laid today, with 190 metres in-length and maximum capacity for 544 people, Barreras Chairman has remembered the launch will take place in Autumn, perhaps already around September, and that the construction period is of 30 months, of which “we cannot divert, because it costs money”. At the official ceremony of keel laying took part Douglas Prothero, Managing Director of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection; Timothy Grisius, Global Real Estate Officer for the hotel group; and Fredrik Johannson, Executive Project Director for Tillberg Design.
