NAVALIA lobbies in Pernambuco and studies ship building agreements
State of Pernambuco Industrial Federation and the National Shipbuilding and Repair Industry and Offshore of Brazil Association want to collaborate with Galician companies. Exhibition organizers participate in the commercial mission run by the Port Authority of Vigo. Is one of the Brazilian areas where the highest investment for the construction of shipyards has been made, and now it is focused on Vigo. We regard Pernambuco, the State of Brazil where the organizers of NAVALIA have moved to continue their promotional labour. The exhibition participates this week in the commercial mission planned by the Port Authority of Vigo together with other companies from wind power, granite and fishing sectors. The intensive work realized since last Sunday in Pernambuco is bearing fruits, because the NAVALIA's team moved to Brazil has confirmed the good development of bilateral agreements for shipbuilding. These contracts would be carried out with the Industry Federation of the State of Pernambuco (Fiepe) and the National Shipbuilding and Repair Industry and Offshore of Brazil Association (Sinaval). For instance, the company Petrobrás has in its order list the construction of 10 vessels Suezmax and 12 Aframaz, what means a total of 22 ships until 2012.
This Brazilian area is, nowadays, an important point of reference for naval Galician companies. The strong investment realized in the Port of Suape for the start up of new shipyards has turned into an excellent opportunity to our companies to offer their knowledge and experience in the naval sector. The delegation from Vigo moved to Brazil visited the industrial area of SUAPE GLOBAL and the shipyard ATLÁNTICO SUL. The last company mentioned is a good example of Brazilian power, because it has a capacity of production of 160.000 tones per year and it foresees the immediate construction of 8 vessels for the support of the pre-salt platform, where a bag of crude of 8.000 squared meters have been just discovered. The visit of this delegation coincides also with the presentation, by the state Government, of a new shipyard of the Shahin-Tomé consortium, which means an investment of more than 500 million dollars, and that occupy the equivalent of 40 football stadiums.
