Vigo becomes the world centre for eco-efficient fishing in May 2010
The First international Conference on Fishing Vessel Energy Efficiency "E-fishing" on energy efficiency in the fisheries sector, will be held on 18th, 19th and 20th of May in Vigo. This symposium is one of the activities in the framework of the activities of the International Exhibition on Shipbuilding Industry, NAVALIA which in its third edition has ranked among the top five position on the ranking of world exhibitions. It will be the first in a series of biennial meetings conferences where experts from around the world will report on recent advances in research and development in the field of energy conservation in fishing vessels. This year will gather at this international forum, presentations made by scientists from prestigious research institutes in the field of eco-efficiency in fisheries. These include the Irish Sea Fisheries Delete (Ireland), the Australian Maritime College (Australia), the Institute of Marine Sciences in Italy, or the Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada). There will be researchers coming to Vigo from 15 different countries, making global epicentre in this critical area for the respect of both air and marine ecosystems, and for the economic development of industries such as fishing and shipbuilding. Furthermore, it is expected the presence of more than 25,000 visitors at NAVALIA from more than 75 countries, which will have a positive effect on the organization of this congress.
The "E-fishing" is a pioneering event, it is the first conference of its kind with the participation of nations around the world.
