NAVALIA Meeting will be held again after 2023 summer

It will be the second edition of this new format, scheduled for odd years

NAVALIA MEETING was born in 2021 with the aim of adding continuity to the International Shipbuilding Exhibition, and organisers have already found a place for it in their calendar. It will take place after 2023 summer, and over the next few months work will be done on the definitive dates and its venue. As Navalia's organization had proposed during pandemic, NAVALIA EXHIBITION international trade fair, which is always held on even-numbered years, is now joined by NAVALIA MEETING, a meeting of the shipbuilding sector in odd years with a different format, smaller, where the most technical part of the sector can be given prominence with international conferences and meetings.

The first edition of this meeting was held last September 9 and 10, 2021 under strict health and safety protocols, and only a hundred guests had access to it. ‘After the success of this year's trade fair, we trust the new edition of NAVALIA MEETING will bear little resemblance to the first one, especially in the number of participants. We are shaping a great event, obviously smaller than a trade fair, but we hope will become a benchmark for the sector, just as NAVALIA EXHIBITION is now’, explains its director, Javier Arnau. The objective in 2021 was to bring the sector back together after so many months without events or face-to-face meetings. For the new appointment, ‘we intend it to be an extension of the trade fair with more technical topics but of great interest to the sector, such as offshore wind power. Although we always try to offer an extensive technical conferences program, it is logical that many exhibitors cannot join them due to the meetings arising at the trade fair or commercial contacts made during those three days’ says Arnau.

In 2021, organisers held the meeting at two points in the city: Mar de Vigo Auditorium and Galician Sea Museum. In addition, last day served to constitute of the eighth edition of NAVALIA’s show Executive Committee.
