Representatives of Shipyards and of the Auxiliary Industry Companies from Asia had a meeting in Vigo

A year before the exhibition Natalia almost has 120 exhibitors Vigo, 24th of May of 2007.- Representatives of the Navalia Exhibition, the most important naval industry show in Spain, had a meeting with representatives of the shipyards and the auxiliary industry companies from Asia– among them, from Singapur- last Wednesday in Vigo. The exhibition organization wants to promote the Galician naval industry and attract investors and observers from the sector to Galicia during the next edition, which would be held in May of 2008.

Navalias second edition is consolidated as a referent in the national and international market. The organization plans to cover 30,000m2 of the Vigo exhibition centre. The strong commitment with the internationalization of the sector must be underlined, especially since companies of more than 50 countries would be present at the exhibition. The organization of the event expects to reach an attendance of 200 exhibitors, with manufacturers and distributors from 50 different countries, among them the main European companies of the shipbuilding sector would be present, in addition to different companies from Asia, which currently lead this activity worldwide. The exhibition expects to have the attendance of 7,000 visitors more than in the first edition – 8,000- and reach an attendance of 15,000 professional visitors from all over the world, on the three days of May (from the 20th to the 22nd), during which the Cotogrande facilities will be open.

The truth is that since last September in 2006, the organization is carrying out an extensive promotional campaign in other exhibitions held in European and American countries. It started its tour in the German Show held in Hamburg, where it took place the official presentation; after followed Conxemar; Sinaval Eurofishing in Bilbao; the attendance to the Sea Trade Miami; meetings with representatives from Danish and Dutch associations next month at the Norshipping in Oslo.

In addition to their exhibition objectives, Navalia strives to draw together the interests of the Galician shipbuilding sector. The point is to take advantage of the excellent period that the sector is experiencing worldwide – the worldwide demand is higher than the production capacity of the shipyards- so local companies may gain steady customers for the future, and be ready for the ups and downs that would take place at the beginning of the next decade.

In spite of the last strikes, the naval encounter will coincide with the good moment that the naval industry is experiencing in the Ría for the last 30 years. The Galician shipyards are working at full capacity and have orders until 2013.
