The information of the memory of the Port reveals the movement of more than 755.000 tons of fish during 2005, among fresh fishing, frozen fishing and conserves. The Port of Vigo moved during the last year a whole of 85.787 tons of fresh fishing, for a value of 189 million Euros, according to the information of its annual memory. These numbers are similar to those of the previous year, though lightly superiors, and they demonstrate the continuous growth that the Port is experimenting on all the levels.
In whole during 2005, there were moved 631.779 tons of frozen fish and 41.078 tons of conserves, which joined the fresh fishing suppose a global volume that overcomes 755.000 tons of fish. This, according to the president of the Port Authority of Vigo, Abel Caballero, means that the Port of Vigo is already ” the first port of fishing for human consumption of the world ”
