Between this year and 2009 Rodman will make an ambitious scale of big and luxurious yachts designed by the Italian Fulvio de Simoni. The founder has sold his actions to Pescanova and Rodman also has given entry in his capital to 3i, with a participation of 24 %
Whereas the price of his current ships is around 350.000 Euros, the new model of yachts is going to reach 2,5 million Euros.
After three decades in the professional navigation and the small ships of playtime, Rodman, with headquarters in Moaña (Pontevedra), has decided to give a change of direction to his path. Between this year and 2009 Rodman will make an ambitious scale of big and luxurious yachts, from 20 to 30 meters of length, designed by the Italian Fulvio de Simoni.
The persons in charge of Rodman, to assure the success of this new stage, in which they expect to duplicate the size of the company in three years (from approximately 100 to 200 million Euros of invoicing) and to overcome the relative stagnation of the area of professional navigation, have had to carry out also a conscientious redesign of the management and strategy of the company.
All this has led that the entry in the new line of business has forced Rodman to realize adjustments in his managerial model. To attack the challenge, Manuel Rodríguez, the founder and owner, sold his package in Pescanova and gave entry in 24 % of the capital to 3i. The company was reorganized in two areas of business, professional navigation and of playtime, and it is subdivided in turn in other two; yachts (that it will start working this year) and ships of playtime (up to 12 meters), active from 2000. The company has destined, besides, the new shipyard of Valença do Miño (in Portugal and on the verge of be inaugurating) for the small ships of playtime and that of Moaña, next to Vigo, for the yachts. In whole, added other two shipyards (one in the Portuguese Algarve), the group possesses 105.000 square meters of industrial surface.
