Galicia and Lithuania strengthen ties with NAVALIA

The country's consulate and the organization of the exhibition promote the visit of a delegation from WSG, the most important industrial group of the naval sector in the Baltic region.

NAVALIA's Director, Mr. Javier Arnau, together with the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Galicia, Mr. Rafael José de Espona, have celebrated the visit of a delegation from Western Shipyard, the most important industrial group of the naval sector in the Baltic region to Vigo. The visit of this business holding responds to the promotion work started by NAVALIA and the consulate at the end of last year, and in view of the celebration of what will be the eighth edition of the international exhibition. In this morning's meeting, the WS executives have had meetings with the Director of the Internationalization Area of the Galician Institute of Economic Promotion (IGAPE), Mr. Augusto Álvarez Borrás; and with Aclunaga's responsible. They have also been able to explore ways of collaboration regarding engineering processes with experts from the University of Vigo. This business group currently has a large workload in ship repair and offshore wind power, which is beginning to be an activity with great prospects for Lithuania.
The visit has also served to continue working on the possible future agreement that the fair intends to carry out with the Lithuanian shipyards association, LLSRA (Lietuvos laivų statytojų ir remontininkų asociacija / Association of Lithuanian Shipbuilders and Repairers).

On the other hand, both the Lithuanian consulate in Galicia and Navalia maintain the firm commitment to carry out a commercial mission of Lithuanian companies coinciding with the celebration of NAVALIA 2022, as long as the sanitary conditions allow it. It would be the first time that Lithuanian companies visit the exhibition.

It should be noted that as indicated by the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Galicia, Rafael José de Espona, that "Galician companies can find numerous opportunities for business development in Lithuania in the naval sector, security and defense industry, renewable energy wind, biotechnology, ICT, logistics and transport infrastructure, etc.. as well as interacting in the military energy sector with the NATO Center of Excellence for Energy Security (www.enseccoe.org) located in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and led by Lithuania as the host allied nation.
